Mr. P Balakiran divided ICT initiatives in to two parts:
1. Citizen centric initiatives
2. e- Government office system issues
The state of Kerala is lack of sand- so illegal sand mining and sand marketing has increased a lot. He says that with this initiative being eSand/ Nirman which is a centralized, transparent distribution System for river Sand which helps in controlling the high prices of sand, sand mafia and illegal mining. This has been extended to 6 sources of Sand.
He also talked about the e-initiatives like the website which has been developed for District Election Officer which facilitates in locating the polling stations and serve for public grievance redressals as well. This is monitored on live basis from a control room and works through SMS service and also through mobile applications. E-District Services through Akshaya Centres have been established which are Designated CSCs. This e-District service provides utility payments, certificate services, university fee payment, etc.

District -Sabarkantha Panchayat
The most highlighted initiative of the district is Digital Setu which is india’s first 100% Wi-Fi in the district. The Digital Setu Project is a Model of Rural Broadband Internet which provides a new approach to create a Digital India. All the village panchayats of this district have been provided with high speed broadband internet and Wi-Fi service said Mr. Nagarajan M.
He informed us about the health initiatives like Swasthya Samvedana Sena which is basically supported by Unicef Gujarat. He also talked about the Mamta Setu which is the Helpline for beneficiary/patient where the call will be routed to health care officers. He claimed about 1610 calls in past nine months.
